Map projects of any kind are always super popular. These updated map coasters are a great keepsake of your favorite trips together, whether it be as a couple or as a family, and useful as well.

Supplies:
Coasters
Atlas (or computer-printed map)
Decoupage
Red marker

This project is a perfect upcycle for an outdated atlas like this one. Alternatively, you can print specific map locations from your computer. Turn the coaster upside down on the portion of the map you want to use. Draw a circle around the coaster then cut out just to the inside of the circle you drew. Apply decoupage to the top of the coaster then place the map on it. Once dry, add little hearts to the special location(s) on the map. Give the ink a few minutes to dry then top with a coat of decoupage.

Who can’t use more storage? Sneak some into your Valentine’s gift by decorating a basket with hearts!

Supplies:
Storage basket with holes
Yarn

This project uses cross-stitch to add a decorative touch to a plain, inexpensive basket. It’s a simple and basic sewing technique that anyone can do by “stitching” x’s through the holes. Draw a heart pattern that you can follow and apply to the holes in the basket. Pull out a long length of the yarn and wrap the end with a piece of tape so it can act as a “needle” to easily push through the holes. Cross-stitch the pattern onto the basket then tie off the yarn behind the pattern when complete. This thick yarn gives a fun puffy look to the pattern so that you can barely even see the Xs.

This is my favorite Valentine’s Day gift idea! A movie night gift basket is perfect for a couple and even a family because everyone loves movie night.

Supplies:
Red bowl
Mason jar
Candle votives
Hand towel
Letter stickers
Popcorn kernels
Candy

Fill the Mason jar with popcorn kernels and collect everyone’s favorite candies. Use letter stickers to spell out “movie night” on the side of the bowl. The stickers are not dishwasher safe or even hand wash safe, but if the bowl is used just to hold popped popcorn then it can be easily hand wiped clean on the inside so as not to disturb the stickers.

Fill the bowl with the hand towel, popcorn, candy, and a fun movie everyone likes. If you’re making the basket for your significant other, add the votives for some romantic candlelight during the movie.

I love this because you can not only use it as a gift for your whole family, but it’s great for just parents, too! Moms and dads don’t get out of the house much so a movie night for two after the kids go to bed reminds your special someone that you still want to spend time with them even if it means staying in.

Of these 3 gift ideas I hope you found one or more you can use this Valentine’s Day!

What great ideas. Really love the bright red movie night bowl. That sounds like a great date night all it needs is the phone number for a babysitter.Lol
