Grab some paint and a couple of simple containers from Old Time Pottery to create a one of a kind DIY glitter candy dish hostess gift. A perfect gift for any party this holiday season. Plus these are so easy to make you can make a bunch and have them waiting on your next invitation.

To make your own DIY glitter candy dish hostess gift you will need:

  • Clear glass containers (any shape you desire will work here)
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Deco-art Glamour Dust in Sizzling Red and Silver Bling
  • Americana Gloss Enamels in True Red and Metallic
  • Paint Brush (optional)
  • Clear candy bags
  • Candy
  • Decorative tape

Why two different paints for each candy dish? Well we want that glitter look but if you just use the glitter paint you are left with the picture below.

Not so great right? If you use the gloss enamels under that glitter paint we get this look instead.

So much better! Now how did I do that? I actually used a pour paint technique. Be sure to wash the inside of your container well with rubbing alcohol before beginning. Then just pour some paint into the bottom of your container. Start with the glitter paint.

Then swish it around or use a brush if you would like but make sure the entire inside of your glass container is covered. Remove any excess paint by pouring out or scooping out with a paint brush. Allow to dry completely then repeat with the gloss enamels for complete coverage. Once both coats are completely dry add in your candy bags, the candy of your choice, and tie with some decorative tape. I think the candy bags add an extra special touch to this gift.

This is a fun and unique hostess gift that anyone will love to receive. Plus you can grab clear containers for a bargain at Old Time Pottery every day. Who doesn’t love glitter at the holidays y’all?
