Gold is all the rage this year and I have a gold glitter place setting today that you are going to love. It uses a variety of ideas that you can use to add gold to your wedding reception or dinner party. Use one, two, or all of these ideas to add some shimmer to your next party.

For the entire gold glitter place setting you will need:

  • Square woven charger from Old Time Pottery
  • White square plate from Old Time Pottery
  • Mason jar mug from Old Time Pottery
  • Wood napkin ring from Old Time Pottery
  • Kraft paper tags
  • Gold leafing pen from Krylon (for charger and tag)
  • DecoArt Metallic Lustre in Gold Rush (for napkin ring)
  • DecoArt Dazzing Metallics in Venetian Gold (for mason jar mug)

Start with the wood napkin ring and the metallic lustre. Just rub the product on with your finger until the desired effect is achieved. Allow to dry and this one is ready for your dinner party or wedding reception.

Next how about some gold shimmer added to that plain woven charger? Take the gold leafing pen from Krylon and go around two of the woven strips to create a gold stripe. This is as easy as coloring with a marker.

As a matter of fact, we are going to use that same gold leafing pen just like a marker to make a place-card. Just write the name on your kraft paper tag with the gold leafing pen.

Paint the bottom of your mason jar mug with the metallic gold paint. I used three coats of paint on my mug before I was happy with the results. Allow to dry in between coats.

To get the full look of my pictures, start with a white tablecloth and add your plate charger and a square white plate.

Then add your napkin ring around a napkin plus that place-card that you just made above.

Set out your mason jar mug along with a fun straw if desired.

I also added in some fun elements for a centerpiece. Start with my faux wood grain gold vase (find instructions for making your own here — http://www.thecountrychiccottage.net/2014/02/glitter-faux-grain-vase.html). I also added some mini mason jars filled with loose glitter and a tea light to my table. The table runner is just some burlap and gold glitter ribbon layered on the table.

Are you throwing a dinner party or wedding reception? Add that gold shimmer with these ideas. Bring out all of these elements or just a few to make your gold glitter place setting the talk of the town.
