This super simple last minute gift is the perfect for the holidays or as a hostess gift for those new years parties. You can literally make these in 10 minutes and have the perfect gift for someone on your gift giving list. Plus lets face it these his and hers etched glasses are a whimsical and humorous gift as well.

Supplies Needed:

  • Glasses (I used one wine glass and one beer mug from Old Time Pottery)
  • Painter’s tape (I used Frog Tape)
  • Wax paper
  • Craft Knife
  • Rubbing alcohol to clean glass
  • Glass etching kit
Put a strip of painter’s tape onto your wax paper. Draw “his” or “hers” onto the tape. Then use a craft knife to cut away the letters. Be sure to have old magazines or newspapers under your project to protect your work surface.

Clean your glass well with rubbing alcohol and allow to dry. Do not touch the glass after completing this step. Remove tape from wax paper and apple to glass. Use the opposite end of your craft knife to burnish around all edges of the letters. You want to make sure that the tape is well adhered.

Add additional painters tape to ensure that the etching cream does not get onto other areas of the glass. NOTE: Be sure to follow ALL instructions given to your with your glass etching kit. You must wear protective gloves and be careful with this product.

Add etching cream and wait the required amount of time. Again always follow all instructions that come with your glass etching kit.

Rinse away product, remove painter’s tape stencil, and clean your glass. You have a unique handmade gift that anyone will love to receive. Give these his and hers etched glasses as a Christmas gift or for a holiday party hostess gift. Don’t like the “his” and “hers”? You can etch anything into the glass that you like. Just grab your glasses at Old Time Pottery and etch away!
