I picked up the supplies for this dry erase board lap desk at Old Time Pottery.  They actually have fabric by the yard but I used a gorgeous dish towel for the fabric instead.  I sorted through the wide selection of pillows until I found two that would be approximately the size of the dry erase board when put together.

I started by finding the center of the side of the dry erase board as well as the towel.  I put staples into the towel and onto the back of the dry erase board starting in the center.  Add the staples on both long sides.  The towel was the perfect width so I did not have to trim at all before completing these steps.  If you cannot find a towel you love, put a pillow inside of the fabric to measure then just fold your fabric along the side so you don’t have a raw edge.  Slip the pillows inside the pocket you just created once staples have been placed in both long sides.

Come to one of the short sides and pull the fabric tight.  Fold under to create a finished edge and add a staple in the center.  Repeat on the opposite end.  Continue using staples until you come to the corners.  Work with the fabric to create a nice corner and add staples to secure.

Go around the entire edge with some rope trim and glue to cover up the staples.  Allow to dry completely before using your dry erase board lap desk.

This is such a great idea! My daughter is a homeschooled preschooler and loves to practice her letters all the time. This would be perfect for her. 🙂 (visiting from Friday Favorites)

Fantastic! Since dry erase boards are usually magnetic as well it would be a spot for my grandson to play with his magnetic letters. Great idea. Thank you!
