You can make these metallic quote flower pots for your home in just minutes.  There are a wide selection of planters at Old Time Pottery that are perfect for this project.

You can grab terra cotta ones like are shown here and paint your own.  You can also find white ones that are already painted and just add the words.  Either way, these metallic quote flower pots are sure to look great in your outdoor decor.

Supplies needed to make your own metallic quote flower pots:

  • Planters (we used terra cotta pots)
  • Paint (we used white) (be sure to use a paint that is specifically for terra cotta)
  • Self adhesive metallic sheet
  • Electronic craft cutter or craft knife

Paint your flower pots inside and out with the craft paint.  This paint is formulated just for terra cotta and will seal everything so your words will stay on the front.  To get the quote on the front, I wanted a shiny gold metallic.  I used a self adhesive metallic sheet.  I ran it through my electronic craft cutter to cut the words as shown below.  You can also use a craft knife and cut some words by hand.  Another option would be to use a metallic paint pen and write the quote onto the flower pot.

I removed all of the excess around my words.

Then just stuck them to the front of my planters.  This is really a quick and easy process.

I love the self adhesive metallic sheet because you get such a shimmer from the metallic.  A paint pen would definitely work but there is less of a shimmer in the light.  The best option I have found for a paint pen is the Krylon gold leafing pens.  Those definitely have the best shimmer and should be at your local craft or hobby store.

Add some plants or flowers to your metallic quote flower pots and display them outdoors or around your home.  You will love the little extra touch that the metallic words give to these cute pots!
