Grab a few mason jars and make these fun patriotic mason jar vases this summer. Perfect for your home décor or display them for a Fourth of July party. You just need a few jars that have a side with no writing. I found mine at Old Time Pottery.

Supplies needed for your patriotic mason jar vases:
• Plain sided mason jar (the ones pictured below can be found at Old Time Potter y)
• Americana Gloss Enamels 3D Writer in white
• Star template
• Americana Décor Chalky Finish Paint in Legacy, Romance, and Everlasting
• Sandpaper
• Americana Décor Crème Wax
• Paint brush
• Rubbing alcohol

Clean your glass well with rubbing alcohol before beginning. Make sure it is completely dry before continuing. Use a star template as a guide and draw a star onto the front of your jar with the 3D writer. I used this one from my craft stash but you could easily print and cut out a star from the internet. Allow this to dry completely.

Apply one coat of color to each jar. I used the Legacy blue and Romance red on each jar. Allow this first coat to dry before adding additional coats.

Continue adding additional coats until the glass is completely covered in red and blue. Then add on a coat or two of white. NOTE: Be sure to allow each coat of Americana Décor Chalky Finish to dry for 2 hours before adding another coat.

After that last coat has completely cured, we can grab the sandpaper and have some fun. Use a fine grit sandpaper and go lightly. You can always sand more but it is hard to add paint back to the jars. Continue to sand in a vertical direction all the way around both jars. Including that lovely little three dimensional star that you added to the front. Don’t forget to also touch the rim of the jar with the sandpaper as well.

After your sanding is complete, wipe away any sanding dust. Then apply a layer of crème wax to the entire jar to protect your lovely rustic finish. Allow to dry then buff with a white rag. This makes a wonderfully rustic jar that is perfect for any farmhouse style or country home. Add in your choice of wildflowers and you are ready for those summer guests. These patriotic mason jar vases are an easy painting project with gorgeous results.
