The new year has come and the holidays are over but winter is still upon us.
I don’t know about you but the grey days are too much when you live in a place that celebrates the winter season. This is the time of year when everything looks dull.
I needed a quick fix!
I started in my bedroom. I have a monochromatic look. Too much beige!
I really don’t have the time for a complete bedroom makeover. So with a trip to Old Time Pottery and a focus on color and texture, I created a mini makeover by revamping and refreshing an old tired bedroom!
This can also be called makeover on a budget. Although I rarely buy bed sets in a bag, it was great for this quick fix. I got lucky and found this set during the Old Time Pottery white sale.
Now I have a look that is Revamped and Refreshed for under $50.
Working with textures makes things look richer. This set had 6 pieces. I used the patterns and textures of the pillows and built a pallet. Coordinating some of the hues and placing the colors around the room, made this all come together.
This is what I started with. The before. A duvet and feather comforter. My pillows disappeared. I usually have a few different ones on my bed. So keeping the before picture “real” I left it as is.
Funny, I hate putting pillows on and off the bed, but I love the look of them.
For me, the problem here is not enough color. Keeping things simple and swapping out the spread, totally transformed the room.
As soon as a little color was brought into the space, it already felt refreshed.
The Old Time Pottery set came with a comforter 2 shams and three pillows. I began looking for some texture to break up the pattern. I used my throw and white furry back pillow to add interest.
I also spread the color around the room so your eye could travel around. I used the patterned pillow in the set for my upholstered bench that sits in front of the bed. I love the look now.
This makeover was quick and inexpensive. It created a sense of style and light.
A refreshed colorful change. Lifting my spirits through winter.
A 15 minute makeover under fifty dollars!
What do you think?
Now I want to do the rest of the room. I think I just opened a can of worms.
