Are you throwing a party this summer? Grab a bamboo utensil carrier from Old Time Pottery and dress it up for the event. I took my summer utensil carrier and dressed it up three different ways to give you a few ideas. All of these ideas are not permanent so your utensil carrier can be changed up for the type of event you are hosting.

Start with your wood utensil carrier and the decorations of your choice. I am going to start things off with a patriotic version. Pick up the metal star or any other patriotic décor that will fit on the front at Old Time Pottery.

The tape needs to be washi tape. Washi tape is patterned masking tape so it does not bond permanently to the surface. I used several rows to cover just the bottom of my utensil carrier in red and white polka dots.

Now how do you get your other decorations on the utensil carrier without them being permanent? Tacky roll or glue dots is your answer. Depending on the size and shape of your decoration, they manufacture the dry tacky adhesive in a variety of shapes. You can find this type of adhesive at a craft or hobby store. This will keep your decorations in place but allow you to pull them off later without damage.

My star looks great on the carrier and will leave the surface damage free.

Serve up your utensils with a mason jar full of fun straws as well. Those mason jar mugs can also be found at Old Time Pottery.

Next up is a generic summer version of the utensil carrier that is even simpler to put together. Just tie a fun ribbon around your carrier for a little decoration in seconds.

You can secure the ribbon with a few glue dots if you are worried about it slipping off during your party.

Next up is a beachy version. Wrap the carrier in burlap ribbon and some white twine to start.

Then add a starfish or sea shell to the center. Again use glue dots or other dry tacky adhesive to secure all of these decorations.

There you have it. Three simple ways to dress up your summer utensil carrier. Which will you use this season? Maybe this will jump start another idea that matches your party’s theme. Just be sure to pick up the bamboo utensil carrier at an Old Time Pottery near you.
