Outdoor wall art with pre-cut birch logs and faux succulents.
With warmer weather around the corner it’s time to start planning your outdoor space. And not just what flowers you want to plant. Spruce up those outdoor walls as well!

This outdoor wall art is fun and modern and perfect for a covered patio or front porch. With a trendy geometric shape and, of course, succulents, this piece will look good just about anywhere!

Birch logs (set of 3)
Assortment of faux succulents
Spanish moss
Hot glue gun

Between the birch logs and the Spanish moss, this is a very messy project so be sure to protect your work surface.

Lay the logs in a triangle pattern, so that one end of each is on top and the other end on the bottom of the next log.

Bind each end with the twine, wrapping until you feel they are secure. The first corner you wrap will feel a little loose, but will be more secure once all the corners are wrapped. Knot the twine behind the logs when you’re done wrapping them.

Determine which side you want to be the bottom and place a line of hot glue across it. Press down a layer of Spanish moss firmly on the hot glue.

Practice arranging the succulents you plan to use. Trim the stems down to ~1 1/2″. Hot glue the succulents in place on top of the Spanish moss. Turn the logs around to the back and make sure the succulents are securely in place. Add more hot glue to press them to the log as needed.

Add another layer of Spanish moss on top of the succulent stems using more hot glue.

Use any remaining twine to create a loop for the top of the triangle. Tie it off so that you have a way to hang your new wall art.

Now you can step back and admire your handiwork! Don’t those succulents look real?

Be sure to hang your new art in a place not exposed to the outdoor elements. A covered porch or covered patio will work best.

Saw your feature in the Turn it Up Linkup… congrats. 🙂 This is exactly what I need for my front door… traditional wreaths are so stuffy to me, so this is a fun remix! I think I’ll just try it with real succulents, as long as it’s not too cold in New England for them. Pinning!
