Looking for a unique way to collect cards at your wedding or shower? Try a lantern card holder for weddings made with supplies from Old Time Pottery. You can get everything you need to make this fun card holder option at your local Old Time Pottery store. We love it because you can use the lantern in your home decor long after the wedding is over.
Supplies needed to make your own lantern card holder for weddings:
- Lantern of your choice (we have a wide variety at Old Time Pottery) (here we choose one with large openings at the top so the cards can slip easily inside)
- Ribbon
- Bowdabra and wire
- Artificial flower
- Tag
- Letter stamps
- Ink
Start by making a bow with your Bowdabra. You should be able to find both the ribbon and the Bowdabra at your local Old Time Pottery. The Bowdabra allows you to make a gorgeous bow easily. We used almost an entire spool of ribbon on this bow. Follow the instructions that come with your Bowdabra or see the video on how to use here.
Cut off the majority of the stem on your artificial flower and tie it onto the center of your bow. You can choose the ribbon and flower that will match your wedding theme.
Add the word “CARDS” onto a tag with some letter stamps and ink. You can also write it on if your handwriting is better than mine!
Tie the bow and the tag onto the side of the lantern. If you just tie it on, it will be easy to remove after the ceremony so you can re-use the lantern in your home.
My daughter is getting married so we used this lantern card holder for weddings at the shower (as shown below). Plus we will also use it for the wedding. I love projects that I can use for both events!
Add this fun card holder project to your to do list for any wedding your are planning. This lantern card holder for weddings is a quick project that will look great and can be used later!
